Having spent his life in apprenticeship to the natural world, he now works to bring what he’s learned to a wide audience. Boyd’s unique combination of wisdom, humour and spirituality makes him a captivating speaker. He keeps diverse audiences in rapt attention and gales of laughter and leaves them moved.
Boyd is at home in the village and the natural world. Growing up in the Greater Kruger National Park in South Africa, he was very young when he began learning the ancient technology of tracking from local Shangaan trackers. The ability to follow wild animals is a skill that he’s discovered is highly applicable to navigating the modern world.
Village life was also a central part of Boyd’s upbringing and now forms his core driving philosophy. He understands the benefits and fulfilment village life offers, and wants to help others create this effect in their lives, communities and businesses.
Boyd Varty is a major voice of the new consciousness. He engages audiences across the world on the subject of forging connections in ourselves, in our communities and with the earth. He speaks to those who long for a way of interaction both simpler and more profound than the way most of us live in the world today.
In his home village at Londolozi in South Africa, Boyd is driving a major project to create a “futuristic African village”. Boyd’s concept of the village components of “hardware” and “heartware” is a model he is exporting to people and businesses worldwide.
Today, much of Boyd’s work is driven by the need to connect with what he calls the “new old ways”. His philosophies of village building, tracking your life and lessons from the wild all contribute to his major vision of restoration: of the planet’s ecosystems and of the human spirit itself.
We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.
